Add Rulesstr
Once the Bell Times are added for a School, its time to specify the Rules and Constraints. These Rules and Constraints allow you to add specificities to the TimeTable like:
What Subjects get taught in each Grade and how many times they are taught?
Are there multi-period classes?
Are some classes going to be taught jointly?
Are some teachers preferred for certain classes?
Are there any room preferences?
An Administrator or Owner can specify Rules that apply to the Schedule. You can get the Rules page by clicking on Timetable Rules

Understanding the Rules Viewstr
Before adding Rules, let’s first understand the layout of the Timetable Rules page. The default view shows the Grades and Subjects listed in a tabular format for the entire Schedule.
The Total Periods section shows the number of Periods for each Grade in the School. For example, Grades 6 to 8 in Central High School has 3 Groups per Grade and 30 Periods per Grade per week. Hence, the Total Periods for the Grades LKG to KG are 90 each. Similarly, Grades 9-10 have 60 Periods and Grades 11-12 have 66 Periods.

A filter bar conveniently located at the top of the page allows to conditionally display information like sections, subjects or rules. This helps in efficiently using the space by selecting only relevant information. The Filter By Grades dropdown allows you to view Rules for specific Grade(s) or Grade Level(s).

The Groups toggle switch expands the Rules view from Grades to Groups in each Grade. This is useful when some Rules are not common for all Grades and need to be applied for each Group (example: Teacher preference for a specific Group).

The Show Rules section allows you to visualize and understand specified Rules easily. Since each cell can have multiple Rules specified, the six radio buttons allow you to individually choose each rule.

Add a Period Rulestr
Normally, the first Rule to add to any Timetable is a Period Rule, i.e. how many periods of each Subject will be taught per Grade. Let’s assume the English needs to be taught once a day every day in Grade 6. The following video shows, how to add 5 periods of English per week.

Note
The only exception to the above is when you want Joint Classes in your School. In case of Joint Classes, they need to be specified first. Refer to Joint Classes for adding Joint Classes and then add the Period rule as specified here.
